Having headphones that are easily portable these days, is very important. Plenty of people are now traveling regularly, wether its for long or short trips to work, or personal enjoyment such as a beautiful trip through Europe. Many of the best portable headphones at the moment also happen to be the best in terms of overall use, this is most likely due to the companies realizing that portability is now not only a convenient feature but also a must have in our fast developing world. I must say that I’m really glad that I used a pair of headphones that were easily portable during my trip through Europe, (I used a pair of in-ear Skullcandy Titans). It would have been an extra burden for me if I had brought a big pair of non-folding over-ear headphones. With the little in-ear headphones that I used it was super easy for me to shove them into a pocket within a few seconds, and I didn’t really care about banging them around much either since they were fairly inexpensive.
If your in the market for the best pair of portable headphones, well your in luck, as 2014 seems to have brought us a nice selection, in a wide variety of styles. I personally prefer in-ear headphones when it comes to traveling, for one they seem to be the easiest to tuck away and take up practically no room, they also sound fantastic and are also great for noise-cancelling. But if you must have a pair of on-ear or over-ear i’ve got some great choices selected here that well take a look at. Feel free to check out my list below, you can click on the links under each one to view my full reviews.
Lets start with the RHA MA750i, I really love this pair of in-ear headphones, I’m overly impressed with the build and sound quality of these. Ive actually also listed these in my blog section as best sounding and also best for noise-cancelling. Considering the features and quality that you get from this pair of in-ear headphones, the price is cheap, and your getting one hell of a bargain. They come with a good little travelling pouch as well, making them highly portable. You will notice the quality I’m referring to the second you unbox these sweet British made buds.
Next on the list we have an over-ear variety which you may already be familiar with. These are a very popular pair of audiophile headphones that also happen to be very portable. They are called the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x, and have made my best portable headphones list because they simply rock in almost all aspects. These headphones sound the part, look the part, and are also a great choice for travelling on short or long journeys. They are foldable and light weight, the cable is also removable for extra convinience. This is the kind of pair you would want to travel with if your a DJ or sound editor and are working on the road, but less for the casual guy who just wants some tunes on the road.
This one here is also very popular, and part of the on-ear style. It’s also a brand spankin’ new release coming from V-MODA, the model is called the “XS”, and its a noise isolation, all metal pair of beautiful headphones that deserves a place on my best portable headphones list. This pair is military tested for strength a durability, and trust me, you don’t have to worry about breaking these as they can take a serious beating. They also happen to be nice and slim for the “on-ear” style, they also fold up and come with a nifty portable carrying case.
These are a pair of beautiful in-ear’s, which I personally find one the best for portability use, and I think many others would agree with me. They are very light weight, nice and stylish while also coming off as minimalist, and they sound much more precise then other in-ear headphones in the same price range. These will not let you down if you need a pair that is portable but also performs with the best.
The only wireless pair thats making it onto my best portable headphones list is the JLab GO. These are great for portability due to the fact that they are in-ear and of course wireless with Bluetooth. Allowing you to travel freely without the worry of snagging the cables on things as you rush around grabbing buses, trains, or flights. They are also very small for storing away, and have proven to be very reliable while also producing great sound quality.
