It was only by luck that i came across this pair of new release headphones from Audio-Technica, I was not even aware at the time that they had just released a brand new line, in the M-Series. The specific model that I was able to get a sample of is called the ATH-M30x professional headphones. Upon first look and inspection, I thought these headphones would be at least a few price brackets more expensive then they actually are, which is why I’m so excited to give you this little review, and show you some of the new things Audio-Technica has added to their brand new M series headphones.
Audio-Technica takes pride in their products, and this shows very much in the well priced ATH-M30x headphones. I’m always on the look out for good bargains, and this is definitely a pair you should take into serious consideration, if quality in build and sound is a priority for you. What you also get as a bonus with this pair of headphones is a sleek design, which I think looks very professional and simplistic. I will be getting a video review up for you guys as soon as possible, but for now lets take a closer look below at some of the specifics.
Pros: Love the look, durable build, foldable, 40mm drivers with fantastic sound, very comfortable.
Cons: Not very noise-cancelling, attached cable.
Audio-Technica ATH-M30x Features, Build & Comfort
For the interestingly low price of these ATH-M30x headphones, the build is surprisingly good. They feel sturdy when you hold them, with no loose or sagging parts that are usually so apparent on the beats headphones. There is an overall feeling of good craftsmanship, and this can be felt in the way the ear-cups pivot, and the tight fitting headband that is wrapped in a thick and wide padding. The back of the headband sports a nice big Audio-Technica logo.
The ATH-M30x headphones are also fairly light weight and collapsable, making them a great pair of headphones for travelling. But since these headphones are more or less designed to be used in a studio environment, they are probably not the best pair for use while travelling, but more for the ease of transportation from studio to studio or for field recording. One thing I would have liked to have seen on these headphones would be a detachable cable.
These new release headphones are also very comfortable, I really like the plush cushioning on both the ear-cups and the headband. The headband has a nice snap to it, which allows for a nice tight fit. The headband is also adjustable in length, and the ear-pieces move laterally for a nice custom feel. I’m impressed with these headphones.
ATH-M30x Sound Quality
When I review the sound on headphones I like to use them with multiple genres of music. For this specific ATH-M30x pair, I listened to soft rock, blues, classical, house, and rap. They performed well for all types, but were exceptional for rock, blues, classical, and house. I felt they lacked somewhat in the bass department when it came to the rap, but that is most likely due to the fact that these headphones are superbly balanced, and do not produce too much in one frequency compared to the other.
Don’t forget that these headphones are designed to perform the best sound wise in a studio environment, for track mixing and audio editing. So if you like strong mids, and detail in your music, these would be a great choice. For more personal reviews and highly discounted price click on the product link below.
